Don Hanson - Redcar & District 41 Club

Redcar & District 41 Club are sad to announce the death at the age of 83 of Don Hanson, who became a member in 1972, following his membership of Redcar & District Round Table in 1956. Don was a past Table chairman and chairman of Redcar 41 Club in 1980-81.

He joined the Royal Assurance after leaving school in 1948 and apart from National Service in 1950-52, he remained with the Royal at Middlesbrough until his retirement, rising in his career to an Inspector and later as Chief Inspector.

Don was a much respected member of the Chartered Insurance Institute, qualifying as an Associate and later as a Fellow of the Institute.

In the 90’s after Don retired, he and his wife Jean moved from Redcar to the nearby village of Great Ayton, the home of Captain Cook.

His health prevented his attendance at 41 meetings in later years but as an all round gentlemen and good bloke, he will be remembered fondly by his many friends.

Our sympathy and condolences go to his wife Jean and daughter Jill, he will be greatly missed.
