Les Haworth - Tettenhall 41 Club

LES HAWORTH - Tettenhall 41 Club

Our oldest member, Les died in November aged 96. He was a founding member of Tettenhall Round Table and the first to leave under the age rule, subsequently becoming a founder member of Tettenhall 41 Club serving as Treasurer for several years.

Les left 41 Club for a number of years but rejoined at the age of 90 upon which we delighted in introducing him as our “youngest” member.

He came originally from Bolton, went to school with Tommy Lawton and remained an avid Bolton Wanderers Fan all his life.

Les saw war service in the RAF, travelled extensively and finished his enlistment with a secondment to Washington DC as a Paymaster to British and American Troops finally being demobbed in 1947 after 9 years service. He completed his military career serving in the Territorial Army.

Les was a kind hearted and generous man and his popularity was reflected by the great attendance at his funeral which was set as a celebration of his life.

He leaves Karis his wife of 64 years, their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren
