David Garrett – Henleaze 41 Club

…………………………………………………………………………………………………..

Henleaze 41 Club in Bristol is sad to announce the passing of David Garrett on the 21st July 2020 at the age of 75. He had been an active member of Henleaze Round Table and then Henleaze 41 Club as well as Clifton Rotary Club and Cabot Lodge in the Province of Bristol.

David was born on 11th May 1945 and raised in Leytonstone and therefore being a London West End boy, he gravitated to being an exceptionally passionate supporter of West Ham United Football Club. As a teenager from an early age, he followed the team which included the eventual World Cup (1966) stars Booby Moore, Martin Peters and Geoff Hurst.

He first met his wife Sandy near Romford and started work for Sun Life Insurance Group. In 1976 they moved to Bristol where he started his family raising daughter Ali and son Neil. His role at Sun Life subsequently changed in later tears to Aviva where he was the Financial Director responsible for 800 staff.

A mover and shaker David joined Henleaze Round Table in 1978 subsequently a successful Chairman before being honoured by being made President before moving on to Henleaze 41 Club. He thoroughly enjoyed all the social aspects of Round Table and with fellow Tablers took part in many National Weekend Conferences throughout the country. Placing name badges on Ladies dresses seem to be one of his great delights.

David is sadly missed by his family and Henleaze 41 Club.
