David Stephenson - West Forest 41 Club

It is with much regret that West Forest 41 Club announces the death, on 7th March, of one of its members, Mr David Stephenson, APFS, at the age of 60 after living with cancer for a year.

David was a former Merchant Navy Navigating Officer and has been a financial adviser and fund manager since 1986. He enjoyed sharing his experiences on tankers passing through the Straits of Hormuz.

Dave joined West Forest Round Table in 1992, chaired in 2000, and left Table in 2005. Because of the age rule change David joined 41 Club in 2003 and was made chairman in his first year! We think he may have been the first active Round Tabler to also become a 41 Club Chairman.

David had two passions in life – sport and investments. He was a keen marathon runner, completing a total of six, including both London and New York. He was also a keen walker and a passionate skier. When not supporting Reading Football Club on the terraces at the Madjeski stadium, he would be watching Manchester United, The Orlando Magic basketball team, or checking the latest financial news.

With his naval background, Dave was a great supporter of the RNLI and donations in his memory are going to the RNLI. To date these donations total over £1,000.

Our best wishes go to Caroline and all of David’s family.
