The untimely death of Ken Nobles on 10th October 2019 at the age of 72 was a great shock to his many friends across the Round Table community. Ken had been living with a particularly unkind form of dementure for some time which had meant he had to gradually give up many of his pleasures in life, firstly golf, then driving, then alcohol and, finally, bowls. He bore all this with characteristic good humour.

Ken joined Hutton and Shenfield Round Table in 1980 and soon became a very active member of the Club despite running a rapidly expanding window business and also being a freemason. He loved being around people and everyone enjoyed his company.Although he was never Table Chairman he was very enthusiastic about Area matters.

In 41 Club he was Chairman in 1999 and, together with his wife Jean, was a regular attender at National Conferences where they made many new friends. They had owned a flat in Spain for some years and in 2000moved to live there. Ken joined Costa del Sol 41 Club and soon became a stalwart of the Club becoming Chairman in 2007 and again in 2014. On both occasions a contingent from Hutton & Shenfield flew out for his installation. He was closely involved with the organisation of the Iberian Clusters in 2006 and 2013. Due to health concerns he and Jean returned to the UK in 2015 when his contribution to Costa del Sol was recognised by him being made their first Life Honorary Member.

On his return to the UK Ken also joined his local 41 Club at South Woodham Ferrers until he had to leave for health reasons when he was made an honorary member.

His funeral on 6 November was very fitting with a full congregation. He will be sorely missed by his many friends and particularly by his wife Jean, three sons Laurie, Jason and Sean and all his grandchildren.
