Mike Davies - Droitwich Spa 41 Club

Anthony Michael Thomas Davies of Droitwich Spa 41 Club passed away on 16th March 2018 following a period of illness.

Mike was born on his family’s farm on 26th November 1943 and after he left school, he spent a period of time at agricultural college and then getting hands on experience at various farms at home and abroad before returning to Churchfields Farm. He was a former chairman of both the local Round Table and 41 Club and over the years hosted several outdoor activities at the farm including various shooting events and more unusually, judging cows from his dairy herd! Farming was all Mike ever wanted to do and in recent years, he decided to produce a brand of ice cream – named after the farm – which quickly became a local favourite as well as converting a barn on the farm into a popular café/restaurant. He also recently instigated a project to revive Droitwich Salt production.

It was unfortunate that, having organised the annual overseas trip to Antwerp for our 41 Club in March, he had to withdraw at the last minute due to his illness.

His memorial service was held in his local parish church at Salwarpe and it is a mark of his popularity that the church was full 40 minutes before the service was due to start as was the tented area outside.

Our condolences go out to his wife Felicity (“Fizz”), his three daughters Gillian, Fiona and Erica and his grandchildren.
