Book Of Remembrances

Ron Jenkins - Camberley 41 Club

Ron Jenkins: 16/4/1947 – 30/9/2016

It is with great sadness we must report the passing of RON JENKINS a stalwart member and dear friend of both Camberley No. 86 Round Table and Camberley 41 Club.

Ron joined Table back in 1977 and held all the offices except Treasurer which he said ‘was too like the day job’. He planned for, and succeeded in being, Chairman in Camberley’s 50th Charter year which he drove to a great and successful event. One of his raison d’etre was fund raising where he continued to innovate till the very end.

He again threw himself in to 41 Club with great enthusiasm, holding most offices including being the secretary for many the years.

Apart from Tabling, Ron was a keen follower of cricket and keen rugby player and latterly coached the local mini and junior rugby teams. He seldom spoke about his early participation in karate where he was a 5th Dan Black Belt

Ron was well known in the City working long hours in the money markets after working for several years in South Africa for the Standard Bank.

The cancer eventually won after a long, determined struggle. The Club and friends will miss him deeply.
