Trent Bridge visit July 2022

On Friday 1st July 2022, an outside visit was made to the cricket at Trent Bridge. The trip was organised by chairman Bob, not because he is a huge cricket fan (he is scottish after all!), but because he thought it would be an enjoyable experience.

In the event only four of us could go, but a great time was had.

Keith took on the driving duties, and Mike arranged for us to park the car at his nephew's house in West Bridgford which is only a mile from Trent Bridge. In true 41 club fashion, we ended up avoiding West Bridgford, and parking on the embankment which was being used as an offical cricket event car park. The walk to Trent Bridge was much shorter.

Nigel surprised everyone by supplying an amazing picnic for as all. Cornish Pasty, Sandwiches, Crisps, Cheese & Biscuits, and Fruit. It was delicious, well done Nigel.

The cricket was enjoyable with Nottingham Outlaws beating Durham by 4 wickets. Durham won the toss and batted first, scoring 183 for 8 in their 20 overs.

The Outlaws never looked likely to lose, being on top of the run rate throughout their innings, scoring 184 for 6 in just 17 overs. The finish was disappointing however, the winning run came from a no-ball, and then the players just walked off. A 4 or a 6 would have been a much more fitting end.
