Meet the Treasurer

As Treasurer, it is my responsibility to manage the Club’s accounts. My job entails collecting subscriptions (Currently £20.00 per head) from each member at our AGM in April each year, paying our Capitation Fee to the National Association in January each year, purchasing the Past Chairman’s Jewel & Bar ready for the AGM and paying for any sundry items that may arise during the year.

I also present the Accounts and propose a Budget annually at our AGM for approval.

That’s the boring part!

I can really say being in Round Table was the best part of my life, having joined Ashby de la Zouch Table in 1981. I was Vice Chairman in 1986/87 and became Chairman in 1987/88. I had the privilege to present a cheque for £1,000 to Shirley Nolan in my year, following a Table International Trip from the top of Ashby Castle to the top of the Eiffel Tower.

During my last year in Table, I was elected as Round Table Area 14 Treasurer (no one else wanted the job!) and for each Table meeting I attended in a different Fancy Dress!

I joined Ashby 41 Club in 1991 and became Chairman in 2000/01 and again in 2006/07.I was nominated and elected to be the National Councillor for Region 10 in 2008 and two years later nominated and elected to be the National Sales and Marketing Officer. When this post was absorbed into the new Fellowship role, I stepped down and a year later was asked to be the National Honorary Archivist, a job that I still hold.

As in my Table days, I am a regular 41 Club Conference goer and also attend the 41 Club International Conferences.

I enjoy my time I put into 41 Club, but life is not all about 41 Club and I have many other interests, but that’s another story!!
