Region 6 Yorkshire

I feel very privileged to continue as your Region 6 National Councillor for my final year, my tenureship finishes at the National AGM in Jersey in April 2023. In our region we have over 40 Open clubs from Whitby on the North East Coast to Hallamshire in the South in the Peak District and extending to Barnoldswick in the West in the Yorkshire Dales. The Region covers the Round Table areas 8, 9, 15 and 32.
I am still aiming to visit all of our Clubs during my final year to listen to your views, find out what your Club is doing, enjoy fun and fellowship and, if requested, offer my support as your National Councillor to open dialogue between Clubs and the National Board and Council.
I am looking forward to the White Rose Dinner in October which is being organised by one of my own Clubs, Shipley 41 Club, which should be a great night full of friendship and fellowship, as we meet friends from other clubs and reminisce about our Round Table days, we have a great speaker in Gerard O’Herlihy to entertain us on the evening.
Hopefully, we can create more opportunities for fellowship between clubs, to this end I hope to arrange social meetings/competitions where Clubs close to each other can meet to have fun, compare notes, plan for the future and try to find ways of increasing our membership. This will help with lines of communication between neighbouring clubs and our feeder Round Tables, and help recruit new 41ers and assist Round Table, where practicable, to recruit new members.
As for me, I joined Baildon Round Table in 1986, I was active at both club and area level. Currently, I am Chairman of Shipley 41 Club, Chairman of the White Rose Dinner committee for 2022 and I am delighted to say I have been elected to the 41 Club board as the NCLO for 2022-23. In my spare time I like to spend time on my allotment, playing golf badly, watching rugby and travelling.
