National President - Steve James

I am absolutely thrilled and honoured to be elected the President for our great association.

The last 3 years have been difficult for all member associations, and there will be members who will be reluctant to meet physically and we must do all we can to make them still feel part of 41 Club.

As an NHS HR professional, I am acutely aware of recruitment and retention challenges and these are no different in 41 Club. As President I would want to ensure:

We lay the foundations to increase our membership base,

We make 41 Club attractive for retiring Tablers.

A smooth transition for retiring Tablers,

We assist Round Table to grow.

Having a varied programme is key to attracting new members. Over the last 4 years our National offerings have increased significantly. I would like to assist in developing cluster events where they do not exist and continue proactively establishing the very successful “area” clubs that have been affiliated. It is often financially difficult for clubs to put on events and that is why I have put a resolution to the AGM to allow clubs to apply for a grant to help stage such events.

In terms of retention, we must not forget our current members, engagement is the key, I will want to hear the views of our members, so that they stay committed to remain in 41 Club and not disaffiliate. I will achieve this by not only visiting clubs, but by undertaking surveys and establishing Q&A sessions with the President and/or Board.

I look forward to meeting and engaging with as many of you as possible.
