October meeting: Rounton Coffee Roasters. A really interesting evening in testing conditions. After we received notice that we had to hold this in the front of the pub it was always going to be slightly more challenging than we initially planned. David & David from RCR said this was their most unusual tasting event, with it being held in a pub and after we had all had a plate of chilli, rice & chips and and s...

November is Diabetes awareness month so, thanks to Nick Moss, in an attempt to induce the type 2 variant as a warm up, we set off to the Jolly Drover in Hillbrow to enjoy one of their infamous pudding nights. Sarah whipped us into order so naturally we wondered where she had picked up the skills. After a small portion of chilli to warm up our stomachs (and flan for those who were more muppet than a man) it was on to the puds....

This is one of my favourite signs and typifies the theme of the annual Ashby Round Table annual Country Walk! This took place in the Peak District on Saturday 3rd October, with 16 Tablers and 41ers taking part. The weather this year was perfect, dry, not too warm (although it was when you w...

Seven members of Ashby 41 Club (me, Goody, Hugh, Greg, Pete B, Kevin and JR) ventured north to the Royal Armouries in Leeds on 12th September for the 70th Anniversary Lunch of 41 Club. The first problem when we arrived at the venue at 11:30 was that the bar wasn't due to open until 12 noon, but fortunately common sense prevailed and pints of Black Sheep bitter were being served only 10 minutes later!
