Annual Snooker Evening won by 99 year old - Keith Butler reports!

Eight players competed in this year’s snooker evening, held on Tuesday the 7th of February at the Conservative club as usual. As it was a doubles competition the numbers neatly allowed for four teams.

The competition was intense and the teams who made it through to the final were Adrian Palfreyman and Dennis Charlton playing Chris Allen and guest Dave England.

Adrian and Dennis, having built up a commanding lead saw this diminish owing to some “own goals”, but ultimately won the day after some excellent shots especially from Dennis, who at the age of 99 is as capable as ever and showed razor sharp focus.

Our picture shows Chairman Keith presenting the shield to the victorious team. The evening was again excellently organised by our Sports Officer Chris.

Haggis AND the Clipper Yacht Race!

Starting with Colin Webster returning from the south west to address the haggis. it was followed by the Chairman of Reading Valley 41Club - Paul Mascal - giving a talk on his exploits in the Clipper World Race in 2017.
