Cliff Buchan - Ellon 41 Club
MEMORIES OF CLIFF BUCHAN
It is with great sadness that Ellon 41 Club announce the sudden passing of Cliff Buchan at the age of 65 having fought his battle with MSA (Multiple System Atrophy) with courage and fortitude for a number of years.
Cliff took an active part in his local community for almost 40 years having been a member of Round Table , 41 Club and Rotary.
He joined Ellon Round Table 1153. He was an enthusiastic member of the club and served as Chairman 1985-86. He also was an Area Councillor and National Councillor. He made many life long friends through the organisation and frequently spoke about his enjoyment of attending Ellon Galas, Sporting Week-ends, National Conferences and Joint Scottish Area Rallies.
He joined Ellon 41 Club at the appropriate time and became President and was always a keen supporter in all activities and attended most meetings.
He especially looked forward to the annual golf trips to Spain and Portugal with some fellow members.
On joining Ellon Rotary he particularly enjoyed the talks about other charitable work and the attending the various social events.
Cliff loved travel and always maintained that was how he and Jean would spend their hard earned cash by visiting as many areas of the world such as France, Germany, Portugal, USA and Canada as well as enjoying several cruises and European train journeys.
Cliff had an outstanding knowledge and memory about sixties and seventies music about which he could easily name the artist, song title and the year when it made the charts.
Another of his great interests was the Stock Market and he was a successful financial investor and an avid reader of investment magazines,
Cliff was also a keen photographer and he would spend a lot of time trying to capture a perfect shot and often successfully entered competitions held at Ellon Photographic Club.
Cliff was work driven and as an engineer with Aberdeen Council and prior to retirement he worked as Assistant Managing Agent on the
Above all Cliff was family man who was proud of his sons Neil and Paul. He took a keen interest in their achievements at school, university and professionally.
Cliff was strong willed and always knew what he wanted from daily life. Fellow members of Ellon 41 Club have been touched and enriched in their lives by knowing Cliff as a friend.
