Region 25

NATIONAL COUNCILLOR - Phil Douce

Hi. I am the Region 25 National Councillor representing 34 clubs from the Southeast of London and all of Kent, and we have around 650 members.

This is my third year in the role; the last two years have gone in a flash! I have managed to visit most of the clubs within the Region and enjoyed some great evenings of fun and fellowship!

For the uninitiated, I’m married, with five children. No grandchildren as yet but I’m ready!

I joined the City of Rochester Round Table in 1996 and later moved to Sheppey Round Table. I retired in 2010 due to the age rule and stayed on as an Honorary Member as well as becoming a member of a number of 41 Clubs.

We believe that good communications are really important and have focused on improving links and programmes of events with our 41 Clubs and Round Tables. This initiative has worked because some of clubs are sharing programme ideas and have organised joint events. Round Table and 41 Clubs in Kent are now working closely together on improving membership and as a result we have recently revived the City of Rochester Round Table and chartered two new 41 Clubs in Kent.

Hopefully, we can get more clubs to join in to improve and create more opportunities for fellowship between clubs, to this end I have arranged social meetings such as a Burns Night, Golf Day, Transmanche visits, and joint RT events such as Petanque and Bat N Trap where clubs can meet to have fun and compare notes.

I would ask all clubs to please contact me to let me know of their diaries so that I can plan the year ahead. I’m keen to meet all Clubs and listen to your views, find out what your Club is doing and if required, see how I can support you as your National Councillor.
