January meeting (recap): 27-02-2016 Club news: Guisborough

January meeting: last night we held our (early) Burns Night Supper event at The Royal Oak in Great Ayton. There were 24 of us crammed into the upstairs room and what a great night we had. Thanks go to Rob V-J for booking / liaising with the pub (who will have new owners from next month) and Peter & Alan Milburn for once again putting together a superb event for us all. A superb meal of Cullen Skink, Haggis, Neeps & Tatties followed by Clootie Dumpling was devoured after Alastair MacKenzie delivered the "Address to a Haggis”. After the food we embarked on a selection of Penderyn (welsh) whisky (or port for those not partaking). There were a number of readings of a few Burns poems and before we finished the evening off with Auld Lang Syne, Barry Thomas (who was down in the lounge) popped up to say hello.

In attendance were: me, Paul Dickinson, Mike Drake, Peter Gale, Ray Garry, Mel Hague, Steve Hare, Steve Hewison, Eddie Honeywell, Alastair MacKenzie, Brian Metcalfe, John Middleton-Taylor, Alan Milburn, Peter Milburn, Rob Vincent Jones, plus RT’s Peter Whysall, Steve Carman, Rob Copleston, Mark Kent, and guests John Bell, Malcolm Lawson, Derrick Langley, Dave Peacock and Mike Shutt.
